Startup Development and Architecture: Building the Rival Platform
Date: Thursday, October 24th 2019
Time: 6:00pm Networking and Dinner, 7:00pm to 8:30pm Presentation.
Michael Dodsworth, VP of Engineering at Rival
It can be a long, arduous road from startup conceptualization to product rollout. At this event we’ll get an insider’s view of how it comes together in a big way.
Rival’s goal is to build the next-generation ticketing platform for the most coveted events on the planet. Delivering a platform to support that vision is a substantial technical undertaking. Rival has had to tackle sprawling breadth, substantial domain complexity, and extreme traffic spikes.
As their first engineer, and now Rival’s VP of Engineering, Michael Dodsworth has been an integral part in the design and implementation of the Rival platform. In this presentation, he’ll walk through Rival’s architecture (which leverages many AWS services, including AWS Lambda for its APIs), the reasons behind some of those decisions, what’s been successful, what hasn’t, and lessons learned over the three years since inception.
This is an opportunity to not only hear from a successful startup, but also to experience their work environment firsthand – we’ll be meeting at the Rival office in Playa Vista.
Place:The Rival office located at 12105 Bluff Creek Drive, Suite B, Playa Vista, CA 90094
The office is part of the Hercules East Campus. From the parking lot, find the Rival office by walking around 72&Sunny, and entering through the blue and glass door with the pink Rival logo off the patio. The parking lot requires a fee so ride shares are encouraged.
